PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Greetings Brother & Sister Kiwanians…

We’ve had a chance to take a breather after our busy holiday season and now must turn our attention to other activities of our club. One of our more pressing immediate needs is membership recruitment and retention. At the beginning of this Kiwanis year membership was 213 and it currently stands at 204. We can probably expect to lose another 12 members during the next 7 months through attrition or transfers from the community. That means we need to identify and recruit at least 22 new members to achieve “Distinguished Club” status…a very daunting task, indeed.

The underlying purpose of all of our club actions is to retain members and develop membership because the members are the strongest assets of Kiwanis. Without members, there is no substance to our organization. Without members, there is no opportunity to help the children of our community. Without members, there is no Kiwanis!

There are many benefits of Kiwanis membership, both tangible and intangible. We need to be able to relate these benefits to the prospective members…why Kiwanis will give them an advantage in both their personal and professional lives. If we can successfully tell that new prospect about the benefits of membership, they will seriously consider joining our club.

I have issued a challenge to all members…to identify and bring at least one new prospect to a meeting before the end of this year. You all come in contact with at least one person daily who could be a strong prospective member. We need to identify that one person and ask them to join! We should also think of past members who are out there…and might be willing to join our fellowship once again. Please, we all need you out there as recruiters. Remember, that prospective member isn’t going to ask for an invitation…we need to take that first step. Be the changeshare this wonderful fellowship with one another. It is only through your efforts that we can continue to grow and continue to be the change in other’s lives.

Our assignment for the next 7 months…Recruit, recruit, recruit!

Yours in service

Wyman
