Dear Fellow Kiwanians,
Well, we have come through another third of
our year and have seen lots of activity. We have accomplished several
fund-raising and services projects. As we all know, there is still work
to be done.
The Rose committee is working hard to put
together a fundraiser where we sell roses for Administrative
Assistants’ day. This group has some new ideas and also new marketing
ideas. If you are interested in helping them out, contact Donna Logan to
join the committee.
Many service projects are also continuing.
The Nurse’s project is one of those projects we don’t hear a lot
about, but it does continue. Kiwanis allows school nurses to purchase
items such as clothes and shoes for children they are working with and
believe are in need of these items. The school nurses are given the
freedom to buy at their discretion and when we raise money during our
projects, we know that the funds are going to kids in need.
At the last Board of Directors meeting, a
donation was approved to
Burlington
High School
. Rod
Bell
presented a
funding request for the BHS students and agreed to match the donation
from Kiwanis. Thanks Rod, for bringing this to the Board of Directors
and for matching the donation.
The Board of Directors also approved a new
member, Elyn Holten Dean, one member change to Senior Membership and one
Transfer from Rick Schoof. Rick is now in the Tipton area. With those
changes our membership remains at 196. If you know of any prospective
members, please ask them to attend a Thursday meeting. We would love to
have them in the club.
Lastly, on the next few pages of the
newsletter you will see a farewell letter from the editor of the Kiwanis
Newsletter,
Tom Cameron
. Tom, from everyone who reads the newsletter each month, we want to say
THANK YOU. Thank you for your many years of time and thoughts that have
been a part of the Kiwanis Newsletter.
